Documenting July/August

Megan here with you today! So, I am still going strong with my Project 12 and Project Life catchup. I decided to do Project 12 for 2011 and 2012 and then switch over to Project Life for 2013. Well, I am "behind" with both projects. But, with the creation of the layout below, I am happy to say I only have five more months to document until I am finished with Project 12 completely. Project Life - well, I am weeks behind in that. But, I am diligent about writing down daily notes and then at the end of each week, writing up a weekly recap as well as gathering all my digital photos in a folder on my computer for that week. So, when it's time to play catchup, I'm organized and already have everything written down so nothing is forgotten. This way, I don't stress out as much about being behind.

So today I am going to share with you another fabulous Page Maps sketch that's perfect for documenting Project 12 or any other layout where you have lots of photos to include...

And here is my July 2012 Project 12 layout that I created based on the above sketch and using my July Authentique Pride Design Team Kit...

So now for your challenge. Create a layout (about any topic) using the sketch above as inspiration!

The rules:
* Create a new project for this challenge.
* Upload your layout in the gallery and link back to this forum post by August 31st for a chance in the monthly prize drawing.

Back for another term!

Hi, everyone - Susan here and I'm so pleased to be coming back for another term on Memorable Seasons' Design Team!  I just love being on the team and putting my creativity to the test.  Below is a brief bio to re-introduce myself:

I've been scrapbooking for 7 years.  Never in my wildest imagination would I have thought a hobby would possess me so much and lead me down paths I never knew I'd tread.  In addition to scrapbooking, I love photography (naturally), reading, playing the piano, going to movies and plays, and traveling.  I've been married for 34 years and have three children between the ages of 26 and 19.

I would describe my scrapbooking style as linear and orderly. I'm very driven by my photographs and color. I tend to fill my pages yet they are not normally terribly busy. Much of the time I emphasize the journaling on my pages, but I also like to do more artistic pages where the focus is on a really good portrait of someone.  Below is an example of my work:

I used a wonderful new paper collection by October Afternoon called "Travel Girl" that is available in the Memorable Seasons' store here.

Here's another page from that same collection.

I'm back for a second round!

Hello all! Megan here and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve a second term here on the MS Design Team!

Now, a little about me for those that don't know it all yet...

My name is Megan and I live in Portland, Oregon with my husband Andrew and 19-month-old toddler, Liam. We moved here from my home state of Ohio back in 2008 and have truly fallen in love with the Pacific Northwest. This past spring, we decided it was time to get another dog (our first dog passed away in 2011). So, we added a Golden Retriever puppy to our family; her name is Scout. Before getting the best job ever – being a stay-at-home-mom – I worked for a private dental practice as an office manager. I am an avid scrapper and have been scrapping in one form or another since high school. I turned to scrapping because I had so many pictures lying around as photography was my first artful passion and I wanted to do more with them than just shove them into basic photo albums. Besides scrapping and photography, I enjoy hiking, skiing, cycling, camping, eating lots of good local, fresh food, and listening to music and NPR. I hope I am able to continue to inspire you in the months to come and also be inspired by you in return!

This month I had the pleasure of working with Authentique for the very first time as I was sent their Pride collection. Authentique tends to skew to a vintage style, which isn't usually me, but I really had a good time challenging myself with this atypical-for-me collection. I not only used it for a Fourth of July layout but for a couple patriotic-themed layouts and a congratulations card. If you haven't had a chance to check out this collection yet for yourself, you can find it here in the Memorable Seasons store!

And here's just one project I created with my kit...

I hope you'll stop by the forum to see my scrap space and also more projects I created with my kit as well as read about a fun challenge!

Come Meet our new Design Team!

Each day this week you will be introduced to a member of the new MS Design Team with an introduction, a peak at their creative area, a reveal of their July kit, and a place to ask questions!

Today is my day...
Wendy here, I have the pleasure of starting off the week, so hello! I am thrilled to be here at Memorable Seasons. I have been here for 2 years and have served as a DT member, Co-Coordinator and now Coordinator of the Design Team. Before coming to Memorable Seasons, I never "chatted" on a forum so it continues to amaze me how much I feel like this is part of my family. As you all know I am due in just a few weeks with our 6th child. I keep busy being a SAHM and homeschooler to all of our kids. We just recently moved to FL and while the heat is a little much being this pregnant, we are loving our new life! My hubby and I started dating in 1993, were married in 1999 and grow more in love each and every day.

Being creative was always a dream that I held and so after our first child was born I began to pray that the Lord would make me creative. That was almost 10 years ago and this year saw amazing opportunities for me - coordinator of MS DT, member of Bella Blvd DT, many pages printed in CK (and coming) just to name a few. Needless to say, I am blessed beyond my wildest dream! Thank you all for allowing me to be apart of your community and for giving me the privilege of leading this wonderful group of women!

Here is one of my favorite layouts that I created with my July kit; I hope you'll stop by the forum and see some more!

Final Throwdown Challenge

This is our last week of our Throwdown competition - it has been so much fun creating with all the different recipes! This last recipe I picked is not a glamorous one, but it sure tastes good in the winter.

We are making stew this week!
Image

All stew recipes are made up of 3 parts:
1. Something recycled - usually I throw some leftover meat in the pot when I am making stew and because everything is mixed together you never know!
2. Shapes - There are a lot of shapes in a stew pot, rectangles from the meat, round potato pieces, cylinders with celery, and the list goes on...
3. Layers - stew turns out differently each time because I am always adding different items in, whatever I have, but in turn the taste varies somewhat each time.

I created this layout with a bag from this cool sandwich shop (recycled), I have potatoes and onions (circles and pieces of circles), and I have many layers of flavors with my different patterned papers layered on top of each other affecting the flavor, but not the main feature.

This week is a little different so please read carefully!
All are invited to play...  But Our Top Chefs are the ones that will be voted on this week so that means Tami, Berta, Colette, Chris, and Ange get your game on and make some great tasting stew. The chef that receives the most votes will be named the first ever Memorable Seasons Top Chef and win a prize package!

Week 6 Dessert Challenge

Wendy here with your last appetizer/dessert challenge of our Throwdown Contest!  I decided not to give you an appetizer challenge, but instead a dessert challenge.  We are a very structured family, that runs on a tight schedule, but there is one rule I love to break, I love to eat my dessert first!  So, my challenge for you is to make my favorite dessert!

I love Angel Food Cake!!!!! It is so fluffy and light. I love to eat Angel Food cake alone, iced and decorated as my grandmom used to do for me every year, I love to eat it layered in a truffle with fruit, I just love Angel Food cake. So my challenge is to design a card based on the light and fluffy dessert. You may have plain cake, iced cake, layered cake, fruit with your cake, whatever you decide, but show me some fluffiness!

I made this card using some American Craft stash and a doily. My doily reminds me of my angel food cake, round, white, frilly and delicate and totally light. I used some flowered paper b/c my Grandmom made lovely icing flowers and a pretty pink pinwheel to help establish the light and airy feeling!

I also created this card using some Pebbles. Again you will find my doily, but this is a layered card because I do love layering my cake with pudding, cool whip, and fruit!

So have fun creating a card using my favorite dessert, Angel Food Cake!  Don't forget to visit the forum and join us and see what every one creates for this challenge!

Megan's Main Course Throwdown Challenge - Week 5

Megan here again, and I hope everyone in the US had a great holiday yesterday! We didn't do much ourselves, but have a group of 14 friends coming over this evening for a BBQ. So for this week's main course throwdown challenge, our recipe is based off what we are serving up tonight!

So, I am challenging you to make layout based on the above recipe and photo!

Your layout must have:
(1) distressing or tearing for your pulled pork,
(2) dry embossing for the dry rub on your pork AND/OR heat embossing for the hot wood chips you smoke the pork over, and
(3) a trio of something for your dipping sauces.

Here is my example using my Simple Stories 24/7 June Kit. I've torn one edge of the blue grid paper and two edges of the green cardstock. I also dry embossed the green cardstock and heat embossed my chipboard alphas. Then I have a trio of red hearts, a trio of yellow circles and then three trios of wood veneer stars.
Click the above image to enlarge.

The rules:
* Create a new layout for this challenge.
* Please upload your creation into the gallery and leave a link in this post by July 10th.
* And have fun!

Throwdown Appetizer Challenge - Week 5

Megan here and it's time for another week of Throwdown challenges! And today, I am issuing a challenge based on two ingredients found in my own backyard - Rainier cherries and lettuce! We are very fortunate to have a cherry tree in our yard and have spent the past month coming up with different ways to consume all the cherries it has produced. The following recipe is one way we've eaten them, along with fresh lettuce from our garden...

Rainier Cherries and Chevre Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette

So, I am challenging you to make a salad (aka card) based on the above recipe and photo! Your card must have:
(1) a green background for your salad,
(2) yellow and/or red circles for your cherries, and
(3) a dash of white for your chevre cheese.

Here is my example using my Simple Stories 24/7 June Kit. I've got my green cardstock background, several red and yellow 3D circles and white embossed grid stamping.

The rules:
* Create a new card for this challenge.
* Please upload your creation into the gallery and leave a link in this forum post by July 10th.
* And have fun!
