Using something in an unexpected way

Hello to all...this is my first official blog post here on the Memorable Seasons blog. I thought I would discuss using something in a not so obvious way. This may not be new to some..but I love to buy chip board albums (Maya road is my all time fave)not to use them for albums/minis....I have YET to EVER use one as a mini. I use them to create art pieces. They make great smaller altered art. I also use the smaller chipboard albums for tags. The sky is the limit on what to use. I like to use vintage images of any sort. This one I actually used Cosmo Crickets elements on. I have also used them for banners. It would be a great way to use up an odd piece that was not used in an album as well. It is fun to think outside the box...see things in a different way. Maybe someday I will actually use one as an album...

I am thrilled to introduce to you our two newest design team members. I am going to let them tell you about themselves in their own words.

My name is Telah Wrenn.  I am a wife and a mother among other things.  My husband and I have been married for 14 years and we live in Alabama with our 4 children.  Annessa is 10, Andrew is almost 7, Alex is 4 and Amelia is almost 2.  Most of my scrapbook pages revolve around our family of 6.  I started scrapping 10 years ago with decorative edge scissors and themed papers.  I left the hobby for nearly 5 years and then picked it back up again in 2004.  I would say that my addiction "worsened" in 2005 and I've not slowed down since!  I am so excited to be a part of the awesome Memorable Seasons design team!

Hello my name is Cherry and I am a Northwest gal born and raised. I have been married going on 14 years and Mom to one fantastic 12 year old son. I have loved paper and scissors from a wee age...paper dolls and little villages you assemble were my first paper obsession.  THings with history..that can tell a story have always fascinated me. Anything worn and tattered...chances are I will adore it.  Old found objects often times find their way onto anything I am creating..whether it is a layout or an altered project.  I feel blessed to be able to create and document my families life.  I am thrilled to be here at Memorable Seasons and look forward to creating and being inspired by all you talented ladies!

Guest Design Team Member for November 2009

Let me introduce Jessica Farris, our guest design team member for November. She is going to tell you about herself.

I'm Jessica from Virginia. I am a proud working mom of 4 who are the subjects of most of my scrapping. I found Jill's wonderful store from a post on Willow Traders about one of her sales on Thickers! Who can resist a Thicker sale? Once I placed my first order (for over 20 packs LOL) I have never looked back. Jill has always gotten any product I asked for and has a diverse inventory and fabulous prices. I am so honored to have been chosen to be November's Guest Designer and look forward to being a part of the MS community for many more seasons!

Design Team announcement

We have exciting news! Jill and the rest of the design team have been going over all of the applicants and talking and talking and talking. We were blown away by the talent and the wonderful designs we saw. Please understand that the decision we made was based on having some diversity in styles on our team and not on the "talent" of those who applied. All of you have talent and passion and are creating beautiful memories with your art. We would have been proud to have any of you on the team. With that said, the exciting news is that we have chosen TWO new members for our team.

They are Telah Wrenn, known to many of you as bamabuttercup

and

Cherry Nelson, whose MB name is cjcherry.

Please help us welcome these two ladies. I hope to have their bios up on the blog within the next couple of days.

Congratulations to them both!

Do YOU Daily?

The question comes out on ALL of the boards - do YOU Daily? Meaning, will YOU create a December Daily album? An album documenting your time this December?

I must admit, I feel A LOT of pressure to create one - who wouldn't want to have a fun keepsake of all of the holiday traditions - old or new - that took place this year? As the December Daily traidtion goes, you are supposed to create and album with one page for each day of December - and you are SUPOSED to have the album completed and ready for photos/journaling/keepsakes before December actually rolls around. That way, you are more likely to ENJOY the process of filling the album.

Filling the album is NOT my problem - my problem is creating it. No matter how simple I say I want it, I see everyone else's cute, beautiful, embellished albums online and I WANT them!

I did create one last year and kept up with it until Christmas Day - it fell t the wayside after that. I loved going through it with my oldest child and remembering all of the fun things we had done.

So ladies, share your December Dailies with us and any tips YOU might have for creating them nd keeping them simple! What was YOUR favorite part of a past December Daily you created? What would you change? What would you keep the same?

DT Call!

Hello all! We are a little bittersweet about this DT Call... It means that Ashley will be "retiring" from the DT. :( We appreciate all her creativity and inspiration. Ashley, you will be missed!
That brings us to the call we are having.
Applying is quite simple, the details are below. You have until November 7th, and we would love to meet you and see your creations!!

Memorable Seasons is holding a Design Team search until Nov 7. Memorable Seasons is an on-line scrapbook store, gallery and message board dedicated to documenting all the seasons in your life. We are searching for one more designer to complete our team.To apply, please email the following to memorableseasons@yahoo.com
1.links to your online gallery, blog and/or resume, if available
2. your full contact information: name, phone number, email address, and mailing address. Include your message board name if you sign up for the gallery under a name other than your given name.
3. a short paragraph or two about why you want to be one of our designers – why this concept matters to you
4. a list of your current scrapbooking commitments – other DT work, etc
5. then upload to our gallery at http://www.memorableseasons.com/ the following photos or scans of 3 total projects to include
• one layout
• one card
• one altered item or an additional layout with multiple photos.

We prefer those who are not currently on a design team affiliated with a store. Manufacturer, sketch site or kit clubs with no stores attached are okay. If chosen, DT members will receive a kit each month for free from which they will be expected to create at least 4 projects including one or more cards. Additional projects should also be added to the gallery throughout the month. You must be active on the message board and participate in on line crops. You will receive free shipping on their orders from the store. We ask for an initial six month commitment which can be extended if both parties agree. We are sorry but we can only accept applications from US residents only.

If you have any questions, just contact Detta or Jill via the Message Board! We will be announcing our new member soon!!!!!!!!!
