It's A Charmed Life!

Hello all! Megan here today. I was "lucky" and "charmed" enough to get the chance to work with Simple Stories A Charmed Life this month. This collection is just...happy and screams spring...if it ever comes. I love the blue, green and yellow color combo and all the embellies are so fun - lots of stars, hearts, flowers and clovers. And the sentiment stickers are awesome - I see them getting used a lot on future Project Life pages!

You can find this collection HERE in the Memorable Seasons store!!

Here's the front sides of the papers I received...

And the backsides...

And here is the cardstock and embellies...

And some extras I picked up...
(You can find the Jenni Bowlin tapes right here in the store.)

And here is what I created with this fabulous collection...

I also issued a couple challenges based on the above layouts. They aren't due until April 30th so head on over to the Memorable Seasons challenge forum to check them out, along with some other fun challenges, for a chance to win a prize!

Tuesday's Challenge-Love Poems

Hey everyone! Stephanie here to share today's challenge.
This month is all about love, so I want to see you use a part of a love poem, song lyrics or book script in your journaling.
Here is my layout, made using my February kit, Head Over Heel's by Echo Park:
I used the words from the book Love You Forever by Robert Munsch as my journaling to my son.

I hope you'll find a chance to play along with us this month! If you do, be sure to upload your creations to the gallery and also link up here for a chance at this month's prize!

Love Forever

Hey  y'all! It's Stephanie here with a new challenge that is up on the forum!
Since February is the "month of love", my first challenge this month is to scrap about a longtime love of yours. It doesn't have to be a person per se, it can be a hobby, food, activity that you have loved for awhile. Here is my example, using my February kit, Echo Park's Head Over Heels :

Be sure that if you play along, you upload your project to the gallery and you link up to this thread by midnight on February 28!!

Cardstock Challenge

Happy Tuesday y'all! It's Stephanie here again today to share my challenge this week.
It's all about cardstock! We all have it, we all love it (I think)! It's probably one of the first supplies we acquired in this hobby. Let's put it  to good use!
I have created this layout using my January kit, Pink Paislee's Snow Village:
I started with the white cardstock as my base, then cut rectangles from the kraft cardstock. I then added all of my embellishments & journaling.

I also made a card using mostly cardstock:
I cut three strips of cardstock in different colors & used a different border punch on each. The star is also punched from cardstock.

We'd love for you to play along! Create a new layout or two cards & upload your projects into the gallery. Be sure to link back to the forum by midnight on January 31 to be eligible for this month's prize!

Have a fabulous day!!

Mists Challenge

Hey y'all! Stephanie here today with another Tuesday challenge.
I love mists (even though my collection doesn't show it)!! They are so easy & fun to play around with. I created this layout by placing my chipboard pieces on white cardstock & spraying them with the desired color mists. I then used the cardstock with the negative space from the chipboard pieces as my background (the stars, the starburst & the doily).
Image

My challenge this Tuesday to you is to use those mists! Be as creative as you can!!

*Create a new layout or 2 cards.
* Upload your creations into the gallery & link back here by midnight on January 31.

Tuesday's Challenge

Hey y'all! It's Stephanie & Tuesday is my challenge day.
Today we are stash-busting our alphabet stickers!
If you are anything like me, you save all scraps, including letter stickers. What do you do with them once the prominent letters (a,e,i,s,t, etc.) are gone?
Well, I created a "word search" on my layout using those leftover letters. This was a great way to use them up!
I used my January kit, Pink Paislee's Snow Village to create this layout.
The challenge in the forum today is to use up those letter stickers! Be as creative as you can. Remember, this month is all about cleaning out our stash! If you play along, be sure to post your creation in the gallery and link up here  by January 31 for a chance at this month's prize!

I also have a post up about my organizational ideas for storing your alphabet stickers. Be sure to check it out.

Have a great Tuesday!

Inspired By

Hello everyone!
Stephanie here and today I am sharing a bonus challenge that is up over on the forum.
I chose this photo from The Happy Housie to take my inspiration from.

There are lots of fun prints and textures going on here! Here is the layout I created:

I used burlap on my layout (as is on her pillow); woodgrain printed paper and the number "2" is velvet. The chevron paper on my layout is almost an exact match of the fabric on her pillow! I love the "Fall" banner going across the window frame & mimiced that in my layout.

I hope you will get a chance to stop by the forums and play along!!

Live, Love, LEARN!!

The Back To School Crop is in full swing and I thought I would share my challenge for it here today. I hope you'll join us over on the forum!

We all learn a lot during our school years. It seems like all we do for those years is absorb new information and knowledge. But, did you ever think about how much learning we do in our everyday lives, at any age? So, that's what this challenge focuses on...learning OUTSIDE the classroom. The challenge is to scrap about a non-school related learning experience. It can be about you or someone else, doesn't matter. Think about the possibilities...learning a musical instrument, a sport, a child learning to ride a bike, etc. There are lots of possibilities here!

And this is my example I created using my Studio Calico Here and There kit. This layout is about a cooking class I took a couple years back with a bunch of girlfriends.

Remember to:
* Create a new layout or 2 cards for this challenge.
* Upload your creation to the gallery and link back to this forum post by Monday, Sept 16th.

All those who complete the challenge will go into a drawing for a little RAK from me!

September Challenge #6 - BINGO!

Time to play some BINGO! This challenge is simple. All you need to do is create a layout using any combination of BINGO (five horizontal, vertical or diagonal) on this card...

And here is my layout. Yes, the photos are blurry. That's what I get for trying to photograph an 18-month-old and four puppies with my iPhone. But, I felt this was too important a memory not to scrap just because of imperfect photos. I used the first column of the Bingo card (flowers, die-cuts, some sort of animal, stickers, the color orange) and my Studio Calico Here and There kit...

Can't wait to see you call out BINGO!

 Remember to...
* Create a new layout or 2 cards for this challenge.
 * Please upload your creation into the gallery and leave a link in this forum post by September 30th.

I'm back for a second round!

Hello all! Megan here and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve a second term here on the MS Design Team!

Now, a little about me for those that don't know it all yet...

My name is Megan and I live in Portland, Oregon with my husband Andrew and 19-month-old toddler, Liam. We moved here from my home state of Ohio back in 2008 and have truly fallen in love with the Pacific Northwest. This past spring, we decided it was time to get another dog (our first dog passed away in 2011). So, we added a Golden Retriever puppy to our family; her name is Scout. Before getting the best job ever – being a stay-at-home-mom – I worked for a private dental practice as an office manager. I am an avid scrapper and have been scrapping in one form or another since high school. I turned to scrapping because I had so many pictures lying around as photography was my first artful passion and I wanted to do more with them than just shove them into basic photo albums. Besides scrapping and photography, I enjoy hiking, skiing, cycling, camping, eating lots of good local, fresh food, and listening to music and NPR. I hope I am able to continue to inspire you in the months to come and also be inspired by you in return!

This month I had the pleasure of working with Authentique for the very first time as I was sent their Pride collection. Authentique tends to skew to a vintage style, which isn't usually me, but I really had a good time challenging myself with this atypical-for-me collection. I not only used it for a Fourth of July layout but for a couple patriotic-themed layouts and a congratulations card. If you haven't had a chance to check out this collection yet for yourself, you can find it here in the Memorable Seasons store!

And here's just one project I created with my kit...

I hope you'll stop by the forum to see my scrap space and also more projects I created with my kit as well as read about a fun challenge!

April Challenge #5 - Stash

Hi all! Megan here with your next challenge. So what do we ALL have in our stash? Die-cuts! Yep. You know you've got 'em so let's use 'em!

I used this awesome layout by Lilith Eeckels that I found on Pinterest for inspiration. I love how she used all sorts of different die-cuts and labels on this one. And of course I love the overall design. You can see my pin here!

And here is my take on her layout using my Glitz Color Me Happy April kit available in the Memorable Seasons store and several die-cuts from my own stash...

So, your challenge is to use at least four pre-made die-cuts on your project. By pre-made I mean the die-cuts have to be created by a manufacturer and not made by you on a die-cutting machine. You can lift Lilith's layout like I did or do something completely different - that's up to you!

Be sure to...
(1) Create a new layout or 2 cards for this challenge, and...
(2) Upload your layout to the gallery and link back to the challenge thread in the forum by April 30th for an entry into the monthly prize drawing.

I'm looking forward to seeing your creations!

Megan's Hand Stitching challenge

My challenge for this week is to hand stitch on your layout. I have done the basic straight stitching before but this was the first time I tried the blanket stitch and I'm in LOVE!! For the challenge, you can use any type of stitch, but I wanted to try something new.

Here's my sample layout:

And here's how to create this stitch:

On my layout, I didn't put the blanket stitching just along the edges...I actually cut into my paper with an exacto knife to make a straight edge in the middle of my paper so the continuous line of thread would be more visible. Above the cut line, I punched holes to create the little points of the blanket stitch.

And if you just want to do it along the edge of your page, here's a sample of that look:

I can't wait to see how you use hand stitching on your next project!

Time to Think Spring...weekly layout challenge

It's Spring Break here and I don't know about you, but I have all things "spring" on the brain...

So my challenge for this week is to create a layout using the following:
Use a Spring Theme (activities, sights you see, trips you take in the spring, etc)
Use flowers on your project (flowers can be in your photos, papers or added embellishments)
Use ribbon on your project

Here's my sample layout for this challenge:

My layout features some photos I took while on a walk in the greenbelt area of our neighborhood several years ago. I used the new BoBunny Sophie Line papers to create this layout. The papers can be purchased here at Memorable Seasons. The names of the papers I used are Stripe, Bouquet, and Sophie.

To create my title, I used these American Crafts Thickers (Coral Criss Cross Chipboard Pattern) and I rubbed some Worn Lipstick Distress Ink on top of the letters with a foam sponge to brighten the color so they would "pop" more on the softer layout background. Once the letters were attached, I traced around them with a black pen.

To create the rest of the title words, I used some Making Memories Noteworthy Tiny Alphabet stickers and also outlined those letters with the same black pen.

I matted my smaller photos with white card stock to make them look like Polaroid snapshots. I basically cut a square window into the rectangular white card stock and glued it down to the photo, then trimmed away the excess photo edges. Then I added some Prima flowers and white buttons with green stitching to give the layout some added dimension.
The Polaroid photos and the main creek photo were all attached to the layout with foam tape. The other two square photos were glued directly down to the papers. I also added a ribbon underneath the photos along the striped paper strip and tied it in a bow on the left side of the layout.

Thanks for looking and I can't wait to see what projects you all create for this challenge with Spring in mind!
