12/18 Sketch Challenge!

Hi all, Megan here today! Like Susan, I also still appreciate the extensive sketch archives available from Scrapbooks Etc despite the fact that the magazine is no longer published. You have most likely seen a theme this month from me...that almost all my projects are two-pagers. And that's because during the holidays, I take so many photos that I need to place them primarily on two-page spreads or I'd be scrapping Christmas forever! No joke! So with that, I present you with another two page sketch (which, again, I feel could be turned into a single page sketch easily)...

And here is my example using my Basic Grey 25th and Pine Design Team kit. I actually had more photos than the sketch allowed for, so I split some of the photo blocks into smaller photos and also replaced the title block with a photo and moved the title over above the journaling...

Another Sketch for you Dedicated Scrappers!

Hi, it's Susan with you today.

You know you are a truly dedicated scrapbooker if you can find the time to make some layouts during the busy holiday season!  So I hope this sketch will jump start some of you die-hards so that you can accomplish yet one more page.  It comes to you from Scrapbooks, etc. http://www.scrapbooksetc.com/.  Boy, I hated to see that lovely magazine go out of print!

And here's my resulting layout, made with Basic Grey's delightful collection "25th and Pine".  You can get it in the Memorable Seasons store here.  It's on sale too.  Great prices, y'all!

See the curved corners on the red cardstock?  I didn't have a corner rounder to cut that specific shape, so I just traced a smooth bottle cap to achieve the look.  Where there's a will, there's a way!

12/11 Sketch!

Hello all! Megan here today. I love Creative Scrappers, so of course I had to pick a sketch from them to use! I went waaaaay back in their archives and found this gem. There is so much versatility with this one. All those squares could be photos (like my example), patterned paper, embellies, you name it!

And here is my example using my Basic Grey 25th and Pine kit! I pulled a sheet of Basic Grey Solids white distressed paper from my stash to use as my base. The only part of it you can see is along the edge. Then I chose to move my title up by the journaling so I could "hang" the fussy-cut ornament from the top of the page while still using it as part of my title. I also didn't want my title to rest on top of the busy ornament-patterned paper. I dressed up the ornament paper with some of the wood veneers and also added red Smooch Glitz to all the red ornaments for some sparkle.

I also wanted to point out that I hid some additional ornament closeup photos behind three of the ones featured on my page. That's why they have a blue mat around them and a gold photo turn.

The Sketch-a-Thon Continues!

Hi, it's Susan, and I'm back again with another sketch challenge for you.  I selected this sketch from the fabulous Page Maps blog http://www.pagemaps.com/nov13pagemaps.htm.  Don't they have some wonderful designs?  I love the simplicity of this one, yet you can add more details if you wish.

And here's what I created, using my December kit "25th and Vine" by Basic Grey.  You can find it here in the Memorable Seasons store.
When I made my layout, I decided to add a lot of glitter to dress it up even more.  I used glittery letters in my title, plus I added lots of Stickles glitter glue to the ornament paper and the sleigh and reindeer.  At Christmas time you can add lots of sparkle and shine with abandon. What fun!

12/4 Sketch

Hi all, Megan here! Today, I am giving you a two-page sketch from PageMaps. Now, I know some of you are "anti-double-pagers" but what I really love about this sketch is you could choose to do a single page easily using either side of this sketch.

And here's my example using my Basic Grey 25th and Pine DT Kit. I used it for a Project 12 catchup page. After this one, I only have December 2011 and February 2012 to do and I am done with Project 12!!

January 29th Sketch-a-thon Challenge!

Hello all! Megan here and there are still a couple days left in the Sketch-a-Thon before the Last Scrapper Standing contest starts, so be sure to head over to the forum now to get cracking on some great sketches!

Here is my final sketch challenge for this year's sketch-a-thon. For today, I chose a sketch from Jenny Evans of Creative Scrappers. Now, I know most of you have heard of Creative Scrappers with their weekly sketch challenges. I really liked the layers and cascade of embellishments in this single photo sketch from Jenny.

And here's the layout I created using my January Design Team kit featuring Little Yellow Bicycle Winterings! I adapted the sketch to fit my 5"x7" vertical photo. And by the way...for the sake of full disclosure...this is not my photo. This was taken by the Mt. Hood Meadows professional photographer. He posts his photos for digital purchase on Meadows web site. I did get this same shot (it's actually on my "Wonderful" Conditions layout) but it was with my stinky iPhone with no zoom. So of course I wanted his photo too!

I can't wait to see what you all do with this sketch! Please remember to create a new layout for this challenge. Also, make sure you post your layout in the Memorable Seasons gallery and leave a link to it in the January 29th challenge thread in the Sketch-a-thon forum by January 31st.

1/22 sketch time

Hi everyone, Wendy here today with my last sketch for Memorable Season's Sketch-a-thon.  We have 15 sketches that have been issued and 6 more to come so there is still time to jump on over and play along.  I used my Little Yellow Bicycle Winterings kit for this layout - I loved the paper with the trees and didn't want to take away from the design of the paper, so I found a picture of our last Christmas tree hunt and nestled my picture in the trees, perfect!

Here is the sketch I created,

I omitted the second photo and instead used a long title in its place,

Hope you stop by and join in you have until January 31st to be eligible for our prize drawing!

January 18th Sketch-a-thon Challenge!

Hello all! Megan here and today I have a sketch for you from Karan Gerber of Sketchabilities. I love how detailed her sketches are and how she always provides a great variety! And, like today's sketch, most of them showcase multiple photos!

And here's the layout I created using my January Design Team kit featuring Little Yellow Bicycle Winterings! I changed up the placement of the photos and embellishments a bit to accommodate my horizontal focal photo.

I can't wait to see what you all do with this sketch! Please remember to create a new layout for this challenge. Also, make sure you post your layout in the Memorable Seasons gallery and leave a link to it in the January 18th challenge thread in the Sketch-a-thon forum by January 31st.

Today's Sketch-a-thon Challenge!

Hello all! Megan here and I am so excited to be presenting you with my first sketch challenge for the Sketch-a-thon!

Now, you really didn't think I was going to let you get away without at least one double-page sketch, did you? So here is this awesome two-page sketch from Becky Fleck of Page Maps. I love how this one allows for one large focal photo, five supporting photos and still has lots of room for journaling.

And here's the layout I created using my January DT kit - Little Yellow Bicycle Winterings! I am still playing catchup with Project 12 and I love how this one turned out. Subtle winter touches but more focused on the warm, family feeling of the Winterings collection.

I can't wait to see what you all do with this sketch! Please remember to create a new layout for this challenge. Also, make sure you post your layout in the Memorable Seasons gallery and leave a link to it in the January 9th challenge thread in the Sketch-a-thon forum by January 31st.

1/7 sketch time

Hi All! It's an honor to be GDT member this month here at Memorable Seasons!
I was chosen to highlight Crate Paper's "On Trend" line this month and with that I have done so with my first chosen sketch and layout for the month!

The sketch I chose was from Liz Qualman!
I loved the fact that it allowed for layering of those bright "On Trend" papers!
My layout:
I hope it inspires you to jump in and join us in completing some layouts, checking out the "On Trend" line here, or just using up some stash while working on a great sketch

This is Susan, and here's one I created just for the Sketch-a-thon.  I hope you find some inspiration from it!

As you can see, I flipped the sketch because it better suited the direction of my photographs.  To see other layouts based on this sketch, take a look at the Memorable Seasons forum.  Come join in the fun!  You have until Jan. 31 to post your own page.
