Mix it Up...

This week for our LSS (Last Scrapper Standing) contest, we are challenging our Survivors to use more than one type of alphabet/font on their pages. If you are someone who collects alphas, be they thickers, rub-ons, stickers, etc. you know that at times, you need just one more "e" or "s" to finish your title... Well, mix it up! Use multiple types of alphas to make that title work. Your color choices can help your title POP and the differing fonts make for a great design element. Here is mine... I needed to incorporate more red, and the red felt thickers were just the ticket!

This is the new Andrea-Victoria paper from My Mind's Eye. It is a much more mustard yellow than it appears in the scan. I admit it, I was not in love with it until I saw it in person... it is beautiful paper and you will not be disappointed, so order some up today!

Now, if you are not participating in the LSS it is not too late to get involved! We are drawing a weekly winner from all the challenge participants. So, get out there and get those letters working for you!!

Telling your story

Most of us began our infatuation with paper, adhesive and embellishments either when we became parents or as a way to document memories for our children. I began a little later than most of you. I made my first scrapbook as a gift for my oldest daughter when she graduated from high school. However, it was definitely child related. Since then, I have filled up several scrapbooks with memories for my children and my grandson. I have documented our family's special occasions and milestones.

I have also done something else that I think is very important and I hope you do, too. I scrap about me. I have begun trying to write down memories of my childhood and things that happened to my husband and me before we had children. I want my children and my grandchildren to know who we were, what we enjoyed, how our lives were when we were young. I have also tried to do layouts that document who I am today because I am very different than I was when I was in my 20s or 30s. I'm working on a layout right now about me as a 5 year old in dance class. The pictures I have from back then are not the best but they are still important and they tell a story, my story.

I also document the love my husband and I share. We've been together a very long time and I think it is important that my girls know how much we mean to each other, how that love has deepened and evolved over the years.

Don't forget to tell your story in your scrapbooks.

Stickers!

I love stickers. All kinds of stickers, but mostly letter stickers. They are the one consistent item found on all of my scrapbook pages, and probably most of yours. How can one not love stickers when there are so many to choose from, like these:and these:

and these:

My letter sticker baskets are shamefully full and in an effort to use them up a little quicker so I can get back to buying more, I've been trying to come up with ways to use them up a little faster. Yesterday, I tried mixing letter stickers in with my journaling, while at the same time, using letter stickers from two different manufacturers even though they don't exactly match.
papers, die cuts, & round letter stickers can be found here

How do you use your letter stickers?

Manufacturer LOVE

Ever since I started scrapping - I mean, really scrapping - there have been certain manufacturers I have loved, coveted, ADORED. Some I admire from a distance, thinking I could no justice to the gorgeousness they produce. Others I delve right into, unable to contain my scrappy excitedness.
I want to share a bit about a few of my favorite manufacturers. First up, Pink Paislee! I love their new Enchanting and Captivating lines. Have you seen their new sticker books? They are so much fun! Not only are their products fresh and colorful, their designers create the most amazing LOs and projects! I love this LO by Davinie Fiero:
I have always loved October Afternoon - to me, their patterned papers are so easy to use - they always have just the right patterns and colors. I just LOVE their new Cherry Hill line and cannot wait to get my hands on it!
Then, there is Sassafras Lass - who doesn't love bright colors and cute critters? Their Vintage Yummy, Bungle Jungle, and Anthem lines are so much fun!
This Pleasantly Puzzled paper from the Vintage Yummy line is one of my most favorites!
Last but certainly NOT least - the FANTASTIC Jenni Bowlin! These new cardstock alphabet stickers can be used on any type of LO or project - I love the little dots on them.

Who are YOUR favorite manufacturers? Whose products do you just keep going back to? I'd love to hear - share with us in the forums!
